How will your page look on Google?

Type a title and meta description to see the search result on desktop and mobile, measured in pixels the way Google cuts it, then copy the HTML.

Why it matters

The title and description are your advert in the results. A cut-off title or a missing description costs clicks even when the page ranks.

HTML for your page

<title>Emergency Plumber in Austin, TX | 24/7 Callouts | Example Co</title>
<meta name="description" content="Burst pipe or no hot water? Licensed Austin plumbers on call 24/7, usually with you within the hour. Upfront prices, no callout fee on weekdays. Call or book online.">

Limits used: titles about 600px, descriptions about 920px on desktop and 680px on mobile. These are working figures, not a Google rule, and Google can rewrite either line. Want the whole site checked? See the SEO Sprint.

Titles, briefly

Ranking gets you seen. The snippet gets you clicked.

Lead with what the searcher typed, add the reason to pick you, and end with your brand if there is room. Write each page its own title: copies across pages are the first thing Google rewrites.

How long should a title tag be?
Aim for about 50 to 60 characters, but the real limit is width: Google shows roughly 600 pixels of title on desktop. Wide letters like W and M use that up faster than i and l, which is why this tool measures pixels.
How long should a meta description be?
About 120 to 155 characters. Desktop shows roughly 920 pixels (about two lines) and mobile less, so put the words that make people click near the start.
Why does Google show a different title or description?
Google rewrites them when it thinks other text on the page matches the search better, or when yours is missing, too long or stuffed with keywords. A clear, accurate title that matches the page is the one most often kept.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. The preview is drawn in your browser and nothing you enter leaves this page.
Seen in Google but not clicked?
The SEO Sprint finds the pages with impressions but few clicks in your Search Console and rewrites their titles and descriptions.
